Greetings, my name is Ebony Moss! To tell a little about me, I was born March 20, 1996,
and originally from Greene County. I am a honors student, I’m determined, outgoing, and some
athlete. But there’s more to this, and it ALL comes from my culture.
From early childhood I was taught manors, values, family, and knowledge. I’ve learned
Manors are a way of showing respect and may get you very far. ‘Till this day I still use manors,
Because growing up after receiving anything from someone, my mom and dad would say
“Now, what you suppose to say”, was meaning to say thank you. I’ve actually learned from
experience that can get you farther than the next. For instance 1 day the teacher was handing
out pieces of candy, but I happen to be the only one to say thank you, so at the end of that
class she gave me two extra pieces of candy because I used manors! This may be one small
matter or experience but it goes to show how much far along manors may get you. This brings
me to my next structure of culture. VALUES!
My parents always taught me my values! For instance never take anything for granted,
and it’s the little things that can make a big difference for the future. That’s why everything I do
‘till this day is for my me and my future. This brings me to tell about the part of knowledge
In my culture!
Knowledge plays a BIG role in my culture! I can honestly say I’ve learned that I probably
couldn’t get as far without knowledge! As a child I was always told to do better than my
parents, which explains why I am the way I am in school. I’m a student that makes A’s and B’s
and very serious about where I’m at and where I’m trying to be. I can truly say I’m all about
reaching or exceeding all goals! So I am determined to be able to say with my struggles “I did it
and now have a family of my own, I’m wealthy and even taking care of my parents!”
